Workers Remain Behind Pickett Lines At Hard Rock Casino Vancouver

Hard Rock Casino Vancouver employees remain behind picket lines after announcing strikes more than a month ago. Nevertheless, the casino is still trying to stay operational and keep its event schedule, but many people have decided to boycott performances or concerts and respect workers’ right to strike.

Since union members of Hard Rock Casino Vancouver decided to quit their jobs and hit picket lines , the facility has been understaffed but operating. The strike began after employees represented by BCGEU rejected a collective agreement proposed by casino owners. The two sides have been trying to negotiate a new contract for more than 16 months, but have so far failed to reach a deal. The casino is located in Coquitlam, one of the cities of Metro Vancouver, and is run by Great Canadian Gaming.

The 400 workers on strike are demanding fair wages, increased benefits, reliable working hours and respect at work. According to the union, workers have made several “reasonable” proposals, but management has not accepted all of them, without offering satisfactory alternatives. Last week, BCGEU said in a statement that many of its workers had not received a pay rise in more than a decade, and that they had to do two or three things just to make a living. At the same time, the union noted that Great Canadian Gaming had recently seen sales growth of about 62 percent in the quarter compared to revenue generated in the same period last year. 바카라사이트

The union members urged visitors to the casino and even musicians scheduled to perform to show solidarity with Pickett Line. According to them, Hard Rock Casino Vancouver is a profitable casino, but it still refuses to pay its employees a living wage.

Pressure Building Outside Hard Rock Casino
Recently, local media outlets reported that BCGEU had struck a deal with an organization to ensure that the event scheduled was not disturbed by striking workers. The group, called Access Youth Outreach Services, will host an inspiration evening gala at Hard Rock in Coquitlam on Saturday. According to Jerome Bouvier, executive director, Gala guests can cross the picket line.

But the union said no deal was made with any group. A BCGEU spokesman pointed out that it is calling on everyone to respect the picket line. Many unionists and casino workers also urged people on social media not to become “scarves,” or people who interfere with the strike. Casinos are affected by labor chaos, but they still operate, but they host various shows and events. Seeing social media posts related to the strike, some people wrote that they would not go to concerts where they had already bought tickets.

One of the striking workers on the picket line even tweeted a video showing a non-strike casino employee outside the facility. Obviously there is a conflict between him and the striking workers holding the signs, but a Twitter user’s description after a while said he was “chasing” by the police.
