Seoul Sports Council for the Disabled delivers cheering X incentives to visit Icheon Sports Village

The Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council for the Disabled (Chairman Oh Se-hoon) visited and encouraged the disabled national team from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, which is engaged in training at Icheon Training Center ahead of the Hangzhou Asian Games for the Disabled.

Lee Jang-ho, secretary-general of the Seoul Sports Council for the Disabled, and the secretariat visited the Icheon Training Center of the Korea Sports Council on the 19th to tour the training site of the disabled team from the Seoul City Hall, who are training for the Asian Games for the Disabled, and delivered encouragement money and expressed their support.

A total of 10 athletes from Seoul City Hall are participating in the Hangzhou Asian Games for the Disabled in six sports. In particular, Seoul players are at the center of the “invincible” women’s goalball team (coach Jeong Ji-young, Kim Hee-jin, Shim Sun-hwa, Choi Um-ji, and Seo Min-ji), which has won the right to participate in the Paralympics for the first time in 28 years. Kim Hee-jin, Shim Sun-hwa, Choi Um-ji and Seo Min-ji, who have been undefeated since their foundation in 2019, won the Asia-Pacific Golf Championship for the first time in Korean women’s goalball history in July last year, followed by a silver medal in the goalball world championship in December, the highest ever, and won the right to participate in the 2024 Paris Paralympics for the first time in 28 years since the 1996 Atlanta Paralympics. Fans are paying attention to the victory of the women’s goalball team in Asia, whose steps are history. In addition, we look forward to the performance of Jang Young-jin, the rising star of the disabled table tennis world, Park Hong-jo, archery medalists at the Jakarta Asian Games and the world championship, and weightlifting Kim Hyung-hee. Jang Jong-yoon of Suyeong and Kim Bum-jin of Athletics are also considered promising players.

Lee Jang-ho, secretary-general of the Seoul Sports Council for the Disabled, visited Seoul athletes’ training centers, including goalball, table tennis, track and field, weightlifting, swimming and archery, and delivered incentives. In addition, as a well-known table tennis enthusiast, he cheered for his good performance in Hangzhou by holding an instant table tennis rally with Seoul’s table tennis aces, including Jang Young-jin. Director Lee said, “I am proud of you participating in the Asian Games for the Disabled on behalf of Korea. I would like to thank the team for doing their best even in difficult conditions,” he said, adding, “Good results are important, but I hope all of our players will display their skills without regret and come back safely without injury.”
