Otani missed 10G in a row
Otani did not play against the Seattle Mariners in the 2023 Major League at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington on the 14th (Korea Standard Time).
According to MLB Dotcom, Angels manager Phil Nevin said ahead of the game, “I had a conversation with Otani inside. Today is not the right day to play,” Ohtani said.
With Otani missing, the Angels lost 2-3 to Seattle.
Otani’s most recent game was against the Oakland Athletics on the 4th.
Before the game against the Baltimore Orioles on the 5th, he is resting 10 games after feeling pain in his side while training.
The club, optimistic that it is not a major injury, does not list Otani on the injured list (IL) and is watching his condition every day, but contrary to expectations, his return is not easy.
In the match against Seattle on the 12th, Ohtani was put into the starting lineup as the second designated hitter, but he also released a list without Ohtani’s name ahead of the game.
Otani, a candidate for the American League’s Most Valuable Player (AL), is suffering from an injury at the end of the season. His trademark pitching and hitting job had already stopped last month.
He was diagnosed with a ligament injury in his right elbow and was unable to pitch for the rest of the season. Instead, he vowed to play every day as a designated hitter, but the gap is getting longer due to a side injury.
