“Olympic medal. Dreams come true”
The South Korean team participating in the Paris Olympics held a decision ceremony on the 9th and vowed to do well.
The Korean Olympic Committee held a ceremony to decide the South Korean team for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics at Olympic Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Yoo In-chon and second vice minister Jang Mi-ran attended the ceremony, and former chairman of the National Assembly’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, Lee Ki-heung, chairman of the Korea Sports and Olympic Committee, and Chung Kang-sun, head of the Korean national team, reflected on the meaning of the Olympics and encouraged national athletes.
“I applaud the enthusiasm and determination of the national team players who are challenging for the best in the world after completing their training,” Prime Minister Han Deok-soo said. “As a national team member, I hope you compete proudly with foreigners who enjoy everything from K-pop to K-food and share your friendship as much as you want. I wish everyone good health.”
Lee Ki-heung, chairman of the Korea Olympic Committee, said, “This Paris Olympics is a new stage for Korea’s elite sports. There will be many difficulties, such as heat, food, and judgment issues, but I hope that the players will generously demonstrate their capabilities and efforts accumulated over a long period of time and achieve their goals fairly.”
The national team attended the ceremony in a wall-blue ‘Belted Suit Set-up’ uniform produced by Musinsa Standard to reflect on the weight of the Taegeuk mark and the meaning of the Olympics.
Marking its 33rd anniversary this year, the Summer Olympics in Paris will open with a march on the Seine River on the 26th (local time) and will be held until the 11th of next month. 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) around the world will compete in 329 detailed events in 32 sports.
A total of 262 athletes, including 144 athletes and 118 leaders, will participate in 22 sports in Korea. The number of participants has increased slightly as three additional athletes have recently won the 20km race track and men’s triple jump and horse racing. However, the number of participants is the lowest in 48 years since the 1976 Montreal Olympics, as most team ball games other than women’s handball failed to take part in the event. Korea has secured five or more gold medals to rank within the top 15 in the overall rankings.토토사이트
Meanwhile, after the decision ceremony, the South Korean team will fly to Paris one after another from next week. Badminton, shooting and boxing will be the first to leave the country on the 12th, while the main team of the team, including fencing and table tennis, will head to Paris on the 20th.
Athletes will begin training to adjust to the time difference and atmosphere at the “Team Korea Paris Platform,” a pre-training camp organized by the Korean Olympic Committee for the first time in 12 years before the entrance to the Paris Olympic Village, which officially opens on the 18th.
