North Korea’s closing ceremony flagbearer is only male gold medalist Ri Cheong Song

North Korea, which marked its return to international multisport competition with gold medal favorite Bang Chol-mi (29), ended the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games with gold medalist Ri Chong-song (26) as its closing ceremony flag bearer.

Ri carried the North Korean flag during the closing ceremony of the Hangzhou Asian Games at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Main Stadium in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang Province, on Monday.

Ri won the men’s 81-kilogram weightlifting group A competition at the Games at the Hangzhou Xiaoshan Sports Center on Sept. 4, lifting 169 kilograms in the lift and 195 kilograms in the snatch for a total of 364 kilograms.

North Korean weightlifters won six gold, five silver, and two bronze medals at the Games, beating host nation and weightlifting powerhouse China (five gold, three silver, and one bronze).

North Korean women swept five of the seven weight classes.

North Korea’s men’s weightlifting team, which has struggled to make it to the top of the podium, salvaged some pride with a win by Ri Chong Song in the 81-kilogram category.

He is North Korea’s only male gold medalist at the Games.

North Korea won 11 gold medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games, 10 of them in women’s events.

Ri finished fourth in the all-around at the 2018 World Championships in Tashkent and was disqualified from the long jump at the 2019 World Championships in Pattaya.

In her first Asian Games, she won gold and was honored as the closing ceremony flag bearer.

Bang Chul-mi, the opening ceremony flag bearer, won the women’s boxing 54-kilogram category. Meanwhile, Park Myong-won, who carried an artificial lung in the opening ceremony with Bang Chol-mi, finished second to South Korea in the men’s 10-meter running target team event.

North Korea’s three flagbearers at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Hangzhou Asian Games won two gold and one silver medal. 파워볼게임
