North Korean men’s soccer loses 1-2 to Japan in quarterfinals

The North Korean men’s soccer team has been eliminated by Japan in the quarterfinals of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

North Korea lost 1-2 to Japan in the men’s quarterfinals of the tournament at Xiaoshan Sports Center Stadium in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, 텍사스홀덤 China on Monday (Sept. 1).

North Korea, looking to reach the quarterfinals of the Asian Games for the first time in nine years after winning a silver medal in Incheon in 2014, went into halftime at 0-0 before conceding two goals in the second half.

North Korea won three straight games in the group stage, including a 2-0 win over Bahrain in the Round of 16, before being stopped by Japan.

North Korea fell behind early, conceding a goal to Japan’s Gotaro Uchino five minutes into the second half.

North Korea fought back to equalize in the 29th minute through Kim Kuk-bum, but it was short-lived.

The DPRK fell behind to Japan’s Yuta Matsumura in the 35th minute.

Japan will face Hong Kong, who beat Iran 1-0 in the quarterfinals earlier in the day. Hong Kong grabbed the ‘big fish’ with a 12th-minute winner from Pun Pui-hin to advance to the final four.

South Korea and Uzbekistan will meet in the other quarterfinal.
