Buffon picked Vicario as one of the goalkeepers to watch this season through an interview with the Italian media Gazzetta dello Sport.

Buffon retired from his former club Parma at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Although it was the end of his Serie B career, not Serie A

the achievements he has accumulated 바카라사이트닷컴 over the past 20 years are truly remarkable.

Having gone through Spezia

Perticcata Calcio, and Bonascola Calcio Academy

Buffon moved to Parma Academy in 1991 and made his professional debut in 1994 after signing a professional contract.

Buffon

who made his professional debut at the age of 16, played his best in the 1998/99 season at Parma.

He helped the team win the Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup double

and became the Italian national team’s main goalkeeper.

Juventus

who noticed Buffon’s performance

paid 54.2 million euros to recruit him in the summer of 2001

the highest transfer fee for a goalkeeper at the time.

It is an amount that seems weightless now, but it was an astronomical amount even 22 years ago.

But Juventus was worth the money.

Buffon won 10 Serie A titles with Juventus and played 685 matches in Juventus alone.

He boasted a 0-point ERA with 539 runs

and reached 322 scoreless games.

In the summer of 2021

he returned to Parma to spend his last years

and last season

he even joined Parma’s promotion playoffs

but failed to promote due to Cagliari led by manager Claudio Ranieri.

Buffon also left a significant achievement with the Italian national team.

In the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, unfortunately

it was knocked out in the round of 16 by South Korea

but four years later

in the 2006 World Cup in Germany

it overcame France after a penalty shootout and led the country to its fourth World Cup victory.

However

after suffering the pain of failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Buffon announced his retirement from the national team

failing to set a record of seven consecutive appearances in World Cups

an unprecedented record in history.

In this interview, Buffon picked Vicario as the goalkeeper he has recently been keeping an eye on.

I want to see the development of Vicario at Tottenham right now

he said.

Vicario is a 194 cm tall goalkeeper who has grown up in Venice

Cagliari

Perugia and Empoli after going through the Udinese academy.

Utilizing his long arms and agility, he has good defense capabilities.

In particular

Vicario, who continued to grow at Empoli over the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons

was called up to the Italian national team for the first time in September last year.

They currently have a solid first-choice goalkeeper in Gianluigi Donnarumma

but are often called up as second goalkeepers.

He was also called up to the national team for the UEFA Nations League Final held in an A match last June.

Tottenham, who were exposed to defensive anxiety due to the sluggish performance of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris throughout the 2022/23 season

looked for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Coincidentally

Lloris was also worried about the future

so he had to prepare for his departure.

Many players

including David Raya (Brentford)

were on the recruitment list

and they succeeded in putting out the urgent fire by signing Vicario.

Vicario recorded a transfer fee of 20 million euros (approximately 28.8 billion won) this summer and was selected as Tottenham’s new starting goalkeeper.

He conceded two goals in the first two matches of the Premier League

which came against Brentford in the opening game.

Against Manchester United in the second round

Vicario made several saves and led Tottenham to their first goalless game of the season

which they won 2-0.

Vicario is about to play in the third round of the Premier League match between Bournemouth and Tottenham at the Vitality Stadium on the 26th.
