Man Utd are crazy! 2 FWs who have become troublemakers
Manchester United have made a counter-offer for Jadon Sancho and Anthony to a Saudi Pro League club.
“Manchester United have counter-offered Sancho and Anthony to a Saudi Arabian Premier League club,” Nizar Kinsella of the British Evening Standard reported on Wednesday (Nov. 22).
Sancho has become United’s “problem child” this season. Sancho went behind the back of manager Eric ten Hagh and became a complete ‘bust’ for the club. He hasn’t played since the third-round tie after falling out with Van Gaal, who has been trying to revive his career.
Van Gaal left Sancho off the bench for the fourth round Premier League match against Arsenal. ”I didn’t pick Sancho because I wasn’t happy with his performance in training. Sancho must always strive to reach the level of United in training.”
Sancho immediately responded to Van Gaal’s interview. ”You shouldn’t believe everything you read,” he said in an official statement on his social media accounts. I believe there are other reasons for this matter. I have been a scapegoat for a long time. I always do my best in training,” he said.
Ten Haag took this as a protest and excluded Sancho from first-team training altogether. Eventually, Sancho left the team briefly in the January transfer window. Sancho was sent on loan to Dortmund and immediately picked up an assist upon his return.
Anthony is also a problem for United. Anthony joined United last season. He arrived at Old Trafford for a transfer fee of €100 million. Van Gaal bolstered his attacking line with the signing of his former Ajax pupil.
Last season, Anthony didn’t do too badly. In 44 appearances, he scored eight goals and provided three assists to help United win the Carabao Cup for the first time in six years. It wasn’t quite up to par with his transfer fee, but it was a solid season.
This season, however, Anthony has been a bust. In 17 Premier League appearances, he hasn’t recorded a single attacking point. In 22 games across all competitions, he hasn’t scored a goal or provided an assist.
More recently, red flags have been raised in his competition for a starting spot. After suffering a preseason injury, Ahmad Diallo made his comeback against Nottingham Forest in Round 20. He looked more threatening than Anthony. It’s more likely that Ahmad will start.
In this situation, it seems that United are working on selling Sancho and Anthony. Kinsella revealed that United have made counter-offers for Sancho and Anthony, with the club’s asking price being £50 million per player.
Both Sancho and Anthony are on the younger side, both born in 2000. While they are unlikely to head to the Saudi Pro League, it’s a move that could happen given the number of players in their 20s in recent years, including Hubeng Neves (Al Hilal), Franck Kessie (Al Ahli), and Jota (Al Ittihad).
