Lei Waj Nong, Macau’s minister for economic and fiscal affairs, delivered a policy speech for 2021 at a legislative meeting late last week.
At the meeting, Nong answered questions by saying that the revision of the game law would include requiring operators to place locals in 85% of middle and senior management positions.
SAR’s ‘Five-Year Development Plan’ mentioned 85% of the management staff, which the government expected to improve from just over 81% at the time to 85% this year, which is now 88.5%. Currently, 8,809 middle and high-level management staff are local, which is equivalent to 9,959 of the total middle and high-level management staff.
Ray said more locals need to be trained to reach management levels within gaming companies. The government will soon require operators to strengthen programs to train locals in this way. Ray also said amendments to the game law should be made with caution, as it will help create sustainable development in Macau.
According to Inside Asian Gaming, Lei said, “Our goal is clear. We must carefully consider public consultation, legislative proceedings and re-bidding of game licenses in relation to Macau’s future.바카라사이트 추천
The news of the new gambling law revision comes just days after reports regarding a crackdown on illegal online gambling websites in Macau were released, and 97 websites were found to be related to illegal gambling or fraudulent activity in the 11 months of the policy speech 2021.
Despite the high numbers, 97 sites are much lower than the 177 domains closed in 2019, with affected sites located in overseas jurisdictions and targeted at foreign visitors
