“Come on, run!” the voice of ‘captain’ Son Heung-min (31-Tottenham) echoed through Paju NFC.
Jürgen Klinsmann’s South Korea national soccer team is scheduled to play Tunisia in a friendly at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sept. 13. Son Heung-min has returned to training with the team. Son Heung-min hasn’t been at full strength lately due to a groin injury. He was sent to the bench after playing just 75 minutes in an English Premier League (EPL) match against Luton Town on July 7, just before the international break. He hasn’t trained with the team since joining the squad. Heung-min returned to training a day before the match against Tunisia. In the 25 minutes of training that was released, Heung-min practiced normally with the team. Even during a light warm-up with his teammates, he was a “mood maker” and led the team.
Son Heung-min attended a press conference on the 12th and said, “I’m continuing to recover. I think you might be worried that this (my physical condition) is more talked about than the game. I will participate in training (on the 12th). 먹튀검증 It’s a time to see my condition and check my body. I’m in much better shape than when I arrived (in Korea). I will check my condition while training.”
South Korea will play Tunisia on the 13th and Vietnam on the 17th. The final ‘mock test’. South Korea will begin Asian qualifying for the 2026 FIFA North American Championship next month. Next January, the team will compete in the Asian Cup in Qatar.
Son Heung-min said, “I came to Korea after getting the first win I expected in the away game in September. My heart is a little lighter. October is the last time we can (breathe) before the World Cup qualifiers. There are no strong teams in soccer. You never know what can happen. It would be nice to focus on the next two games and play well and start a winning streak.”
He added: “There is a lot to gain (from the two games). The most important thing is the Asian Cup. We can either go to the Asian Cup in a good mood or not. (We are) a young team. It depends on the atmosphere. The atmosphere is not created by anyone. It’s something you have to earn through results. I think results are definitely what we need to get. I hope we can start the World Cup qualifiers and the Asian Cup with a good atmosphere.”
Son Heung-min’s role is crucial. He is the key to the ‘Clean Sweep’. He scored two goals on his debut against Colombia in March and was a revelation. He can play in a variety of positions, including as a dropped striker and a flanker. Lately, he’s been in good form, responsible for six goals for his club. “I tried my best to get (top scorer),” Son said. I had help from my teammates. It’s an unbelievable award. I don’t have any personal greed. I think about how I can help the team more as a player. My mindset was strong from the beginning of the season, the idea that I had to show more than I did last season. I’m trying to entertain soccer fans every minute of every game.”
