‘Another upset loss’ Kwon Young-min, KEPCO coach

A non-match-related issue has hit Korea Power. The head coach was saddened to see his players shaken by the bad news.

KEPCO suffered an upset 1-3 (25-16 20-25 17-25 16-25) loss to OK Financial Group in the first round of the Dodram 2023-24 V-League Men’s Division at Sangryoksu Gymnasium in Ansan on Tuesday.

KEPCO got off to a good start by winning the first set, but dropped the next two to four sets.

The team fell into a two-game losing streak with two consecutive upset losses against KB Insurance on the 17th.

The players learned that the volleyball team was being considered for sale before the start of the season. They tried their best to stay calm, but their anxiety showed in their performance.

Coach Kwon Young-min said, “The bad news at the beginning of the season seems to have shaken us. I want to tell them to overcome it, but as a coach, it’s sad to see them on the sidelines.”

“We’ve played two games now. We have a little bit of time before the next game, so we’re going to manage it well and make 안전놀이터 sure the players do well.”

Responsibility was also emphasized.

“Sometimes players act like they didn’t make the mistakes, and that doesn’t help the team,” Kwon said, “and we saw a lot of that today. We need to talk to the players. However, the chemistry between setter Ha Seung-woo and Thais was good.”
