2018 Asian Games Member Kim Jung-min, Teacher Kim Hak-beom’s Relocation to Jeju

Following Ahn Chan-ki and Kim Tae-hwan, another disciple of head coach Kim Hak-beom joined Jeju United.

Jeju reported on the 20th that “Kim Jung-min will join hands with “Eunsa” Kim Hak-beom again and spread the wings of revival with Kim Hak-beom’s “persona.”

Kim Jung-min was a promising player with a brilliant career. He was selected as one of the 60 promising soccer players from around the world by the British media Guardian in 2016, drawing a lot of attention and also stood out in national teams of all ages. He won the gold medal at the 2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games, and made his A-match debut in a friendly match against Australia in November of the same year. In 2019, he was the runner-up member of the U20 World Cup.

However, he has yet to cast a clear exclamation mark on the professional stage. After playing in Europe, he returned to Korea in 2021 and joined Gangwon FC, Busan I-Park, and FC Anyang, but he has moved away from the glamorous spotlight. He only played in six games last season.

He reunites with his old teacher Kim and dreams of becoming a rising star. Kim Jung-min has experience in the Jakarta Palembang Asian Games national team under Kim’s guidance. At that time, Kim trusted Kim by sending Kim Jung-min as a starter in succession on the tournament stage.

With the addition of Kim Jung-min, Jeju’s midfielders have become more solid. Although Kim Bong-soo left the team to serve in the military, he expanded his power management by recruiting Kim Jung-min following his departure from a 190-centimeter-tall defensive midfielder from Brazil.

“I’m so happy to be part of a good team called Jeju. It’s even better to be with coach Kim Hak-beom again. I’ll try to be a player who can give trust to all the members of Jeju, including coaching staff, teammates, secretariat of the team, and supporters. I’ll continue to make efforts with the determination of ‘Mapujib (to make needles by changing axes),” which was my debut at the Asian Games, to ensure success with all the members in Jeju, Kim said.
