“I think I’m wearing something that’s not right yet.”
Kimpo FC coach Ko Jung-woon expressed deep regret over the defeat in the away match of Seongnam FC.
Gimpo lost 1-2 to Seongnam in the fourth round of Hana Bank’s K League 2 2024 away game at Tancheon Stadium at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th. Gimpo, which lost a point to Huiz in the 29th minute of the first half, chased Kim Kyung-joon after scoring an equalizer in the first minute of the second half, but Park Ji-won lost an additional point in the extra time of the second half.
“Many fans have come all the way to Seongnam, and I feel sorry for them not being able to win the game,” coach Ko Jung-woon told a news conference after the game. “I feel like I am wearing clothes that do not suit the team, as are the foreign players and the defense line. I think we need some time.”
“In particular, players’ lack of confidence in the first half is something they need to think about for themselves,” Koh said. “We have our own color, but we don’t think the players’ existing habits go well together. As a result, players seem to become passive in terms of attack situations and defensively. We need to supplement it a lot as we are far from physically fit.”
Gimpo has been playing away matches in succession since early this season due to construction of improving facilities at its home stadium, Gimpo Salter. Its first home game will only take place on May 4. When asked if this will affect the team, Ko replied, “It may affect the team’s psychology, but I don’t want to make an excuse for that.”
