“First Victory Challenge since Debut”
Byun Jin-jae scored 19 points with 10 birdies and one bogey in the first round of the tournament held at Yeongam 45 (par 72) in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, on the 9th to finish the game as the lone lead.
This year’s event will be conducted in a stableford format, in which points are awarded based on the performance of each hole. The albatross (if the player scores less than three times at bat than the prescribed par) gets eight points, the eagle gets five points, and the buddy gets two points. There are no par scores, and bogey is treated as -1 points, and double bogey is treated as -3 points.
Byun Jin-jae, who was a standing member of the national team for two years from 2008, entered the professional league in 2011 by passing the KPGA Tour qualifying tournament first place.
Byun aims to win his first title at the championship. His personal best is the runner-up, which he recorded at the Busan Open of the Dong-A Membership Group in 2018.
Byun said, “I bogeyed the first hole, but as time passed, I felt more sense of play. I had good shots and good sense of inclination when making putts. I had good iron shots within 150 meters, making it easy to hit the green. I was able to send the ball to a position where I could comfortably putt.”
“Even if the flow is not good in the beginning like today, if you believe in yourself and play calmly, I think there will be good results in the second round,” he said. “The goal is to win as there is no first win of the tour yet.”
Kim Han-byul, who won the 2021 Yamaha and Honors K Open, a modified stableford competition, ranked second alone with 18 points, one point behind Byun Jin-jae.
Kim Han-byul made 94 birdies in four modified stableford competitions from 2020 to last year, the most birdies.
“It was easy because I had a birdie from the first hole,” Kim Han-byul said after the game. “Even though I had one bogey, I was satisfied because I finished the game by garnering seven birdies and one eagle,” he said. “I think it would be okay if I get about 10 points a day. If I gradually regain my confidence, I will be able to display good performance.”토토사이트 순위
