Disciplinary crisis for soccer players overshadowed by ‘anti-homosexuality’ logo
A player from AS Monaco in France’s professional football league 1 is in danger of being disciplined for covering up an anti-hate campaign sticker on his uniform.
According to French daily Le Figaro, AS Monaco’s central midfielder Mohammed Kamara, who played the final League 1 match against FC Nantes on Tuesday, covered his jersey with anti-hate stickers with white tape.
The sticker is part of the French Professional Football Federation’s (LFP) campaign against homosexuality, and all players who played on the day put the sticker on their uniforms.
France’s sports minister, Amelie Udea Castella, criticized Camara’s actions on RTL radio, saying “strong sanctions should be imposed on both the player who did this and the club who allowed it.”
Meanwhile, players wore rainbow-colored uniform symbolizing LGBTQ and coaching staff and officials wore rainbow-colored armbands to mark the International Anti-LGBT Day (May 17) last year in France’s professional football league 1.안전놀이터
