$913.26 million in taxes last month, up 7.7% from a year earlier, driven by a 3.1% increase in total gaming revenue to $2.4 billion.
Citing official figures from the Financial Services Administration, the Asian Games Brief said the January amount from more than 30 casinos in the former Portuguese enclave represents about 80.6% of the government’s total monthly income, with the number of foreign tourists improving slightly each year to nearly 31 million, following a 12.8% increase in tourists from mainland China to 7.6 million.
Macau casinos reported a 1.1% year-on-year increase in total gaming sales in August, up 7.4% from a year earlier, and an 8.8% increase. That’s all up 14.4% to $2.4 billion in November, and up 8% to $2.5 billion.
Moreover, Asia Gaming Brief found that Macau exceeded $1.85 billion in non-gaming tourist spending in the fourth quarter, up 13.3% year over year, in large part due to a 44.3% increase in shopping spending, as statistics and shopping spending rose 44.3%.
Non-game spending by overnight visitors reportedly rose 15.8% year-over-year to just over $1.5 billion, with $350.29 million spent by tourists on the same day representing a 3.6% increase. After 44.3 percent of shopping, lodging accounted for the largest portion of non-game spending with 26.9 percent, followed by food and beverages with 20.8 percent.홀짜게임
“Overnight visitors in Macau spend more than 1.7 times more on games and non-games, excluding transportation, than one-day travelers, while two-night visitors spend more than 3.3 times,” said a statement from brokerage firm Sanford C Bernstein. “With the continued growth of overnight visits from China and the rise of premium mass, Macau’s continued mass growth is achievable in the long run.”
